Green Transition and Labour Law: Sustainable Work in a Decarbonised Economy

This section explores the intersection between the European green transition and labour law at a time when the EU is moving towards a fully decarbonised economy. EU climate policies, the Green Deal, and modern environmental standards are reshaping labour markets, working conditions, and employer obligations. The discussion will focus on the legal and social implications of these changes, particularly on the concept of just transition, the need for reskilling and upskilling of workers, and the role of social partners in ensuring social fairness. The section will also address new models of sustainable work, environmentally oriented workplace policies, the ecological adaptation of workplaces, and emerging OSH risks linked to climate change. Given the cross-border relevance of these topics, comparative insights from different legal systems within and beyond the EU will enrich the debate. The aim of the section is to connect the EU’s climate ambitions with labour-law regulation and to identify sustainable, fair, and legally predictable solutions for the future of work in a low-carbon economy.
